JOB SUMMARY:
Provide direct assistance to the Transportation Office. Must possess skills to communicate with the general public and school administrators. Reports to the Coordinator of Transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to deal effectively with the public and have a working knowledge of the transportation and warehouse practices of the school system.
Ability to use office equipment (including but not limited to:computer, telephone, copies, fax and bus radios).
High school diploma or GED.
Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with “P” and “S” endorsements or the ability to obtain one in six months. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Receives and resolves or refers parent, student, community questions and concerns.
Records, reports and dispatches warehouse inventory.
Receives and dispatches messages to maintenance and transportation officials.
Keeps confidentiality.
Has or obtains a working knowledge of contract and county bus routes.
Has or obtains a working knowledge of the bus audio/visual camera surveillance system.
Has or obtains a working knowledge of the TCP attendance system.
Dispatches buses to ensure that all routes are covered with qualified personnel for all regular and special needs school day transportation, plus field trips and special programs.Dispatches stand-by buses and repair vehicles as needed.Use related technology and software as global positioning systems (GPS) and computer-assisted routing.
Prepares and maintains records and reports such as daily attendance, operational logs, field trip logs, vehicle tracking and other required reports.
Assigns athletic trips to drivers in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Contacts replacement drivers from list of substitutes as soon as absences or pending absences are evident.
Receives telephone calls from drivers, attendants, parents and school administrators relative to prescribed schedules, special requirements or emergency situations.
Books, assigns, provides estimates and calculates costs for regular field trips, athletic trips and others as needed.Submits fieldtrip calculations for payment when needed.
Communicates with all stakeholders regarding daily operations including emergencies.
Minimizes service interruption by managing available resources and responding quickly to unusual situations, i.e., emergencies, breakdowns, accidents, no shows, etc.
Communicates with special needs bus drivers about program expectations, route changes and updates.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
PAY & HOURS: Placement on the Queen Anne’s County Support Salary Unit II Schedule is commensurate with experience and preparation.
