Description

**Second Shift**

Assist production workers by performing miscellaneous tasks such as supplying or holding materials or tools, cleaning work area, operating and maintaining equipment and yard duties as decided.

Primary Responsibilities:

Material Handling:

Lift raw materials and finished products, manually, or using hoists, or forklifts.

Transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered lift trucks.

Separate products according to weight, grade, size, or composition of materials used to produce them.

Equipment and small tool operations:

Operate machinery used in the fabrication process (saws, punches, shear, etc.) or assist machine operators.

Grind welds and chip weld splatter

Start machines or equipment to begin production processes.

Perform minor repairs to machines, such as replacing damaged or worn parts.

General Duties:

Assist production workers in various ways such as; supplying or holding materials or tools, cleaning work areas and equipment and accurate use of a tape measure.

Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.

Mark or tag identification on parts.

Raw material inventory.

Shop Maintenance:

General shop, yard, and daily equipment maintenance as assigned

Safety:

Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company and OSHA safety standards.

Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities, and Competencies:

Knowledge of the applicable occupational hazards and safety precautions

Knowledge of the standard methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment of a steel fabrication shop

Skill in the use and care of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment of the trade

Skill in welding and cutting tools and techniques is desirable

Safe and skilled use of basic rigging, hoisting, and lifting

Ability to lift, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently

Knowledge of overhead crane and forklift operator signaling

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions

Familiarity with common structural steel shapes

Upon conditional job offer or promotion, candidate must pass a drug and/or alcohol test.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Required 6 months-3 years of experience
