Egypt Valley Country Club, one of Michigan's premier private clubs, is seeking an experienced and driven Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. This is a vital role for a dynamic culinary professional looking to influence a high-performing kitchen culture within one of the region's premier private clubs.

What We're Looking For:

We are not just seeking a strong cook-we are seeking a culinary leader. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in executive-level kitchen roles or in directly managing and mentoring culinary professionals in executive positions.

The ability to lead at a high level, set professional standards, support leadership continuity, and drive team accountability is essential. You will serve as a pillar of consistency, creativity, and professionalism for both our team and our membership.

Key Responsibilities:

Uphold and implement the club's culinary vision across à la carte and banquet operations.

Lead, train, and mentor BOH staff, instilling a culture of discipline, pride, and hospitality.

Ensure a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and employee presentation.

Write and execute innovative, seasonal menus aligned with club standards and budget goals.

Manage labor, food costs, and inventory to meet or exceed department budgets.

Oversee purchasing, vendor relationships, and monthly food inventory.

Conduct and lead monthly kitchen meetings; foster open communication with support teams.

Promote the food and beverage program through email, social media, and other platforms.

Collaborate closely with FOH leadership to ensure exceptional service integration.

Identify and empower rising talent within the team to take on greater responsibility.

Maintain flexibility in scheduling and lead by example in all shifts and operational demands.

Ensure all culinary equipment is used, maintained, and cleaned properly.

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years in a leadership or sous chef position in a high-end restaurant or private club.

Culinary degree or ACF certification strongly preferred.

High-level experience managing kitchen operations, cost control, and team development.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Expert knowledge of culinary equipment care, sanitation standards, and workflow optimization.
