The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from students who are interested in an unpaid internship with our Development department.
The Development Intern will primarily assist our Membership Coordinator with management of the Time Travelers membership program. Started in the 1990s, this reciprocal membership program has grown to include more than 500 organizations across the United States and Canada. The selected intern will be responsible for communicating with these organizations and updating their contact information along with evaluating opportunities to grow and strengthen the program.
UNPAID INTERNSHIPS MUST BE ACADEMIC IN NATURE, AND THE INTERN MUST EARN ACADEMIC CREDIT BY PARTICIPATING IN THE INTERNSHIP.
Schedule
This is an in-person internship. The intern may work 5-20 hours per week in fall 2025 between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. The final schedule is flexible and will be determined with the supervisor. The intern will report to the Membership Coordinator.
The intern's responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
Assisting with management of the Time Travelers program
Assisting in data entry
Assisting with the preparation of membership packets and other mailings
Promoting membership through onsite sales
Processing and fulfilling complimentary membership requests
Assisting Development staff in phoning members
Promoting and nurturing productive working relationships
Assisting with member events and programs
Intern Qualifications:
College junior or above in good academic standing
Interest in fundraising and history
Solid written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff, members, and donors
Strong computer skills
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
