Backend Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a solid breadth of experience - to design and implement the web application layer around our core technology. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. We want team members with a sense of humor and a passion for making great software. You must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment. Responsibilities

Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions

Design client/server architecture

Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications

Write effective APIs

Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency

Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software

Create security and data protection settings

Perform code reviews

Write technical documentation

Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software

Requirements

Strong Python skills and experience with multiple back-end languages (e.g. C++, Java, Node.js)

Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, MongoDB)

Familiarity with Linux, Kubernetes, Bash

Familiarity with web servers (e.g. Apache, NGINX)

Experience writing REST APIs

Familiar with version control such as git, Azure DevOps is a plus

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Great attention to detail

An analytical mind

BS Degree in Computer Science

Must be East Coast based, local candidates strongly preferred
