Part-Time Middle School Science Teacher

Position Overview:
The science teacher at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment that promotes the spiritual, academic, and social development of students in grades 6,7, and 8. The teacher will integrate Catholic values into the curriculum and foster a love of learning in a faith-based setting. Participation and leadership in various school-wide activities and events is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging middle school science lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum guidelines.
Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into daily lessons and activities.
Develop and maintain curriculum maps and lesson plans.
Implement differentiated instruction techniques to meet diverse student needs.
Prepare students for standardized STAR tests given three times a year
Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents through progress reports and parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
Experience with classroom SMART BOARD technology and Google classroom a plus.
Classroom Management:
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children from diverse backgrounds to be respectful, cooperative, and responsible.
Implement effective classroom management techniques to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
Address and resolve any behavioral issues in a constructive and supportive manner.
Supervise students outside the classroom, such as during lunch or detention.
Student Assessment and Support:
Assess students' abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child’s development and any concerns.
Provide timely and appropriate feedback on student work.
Work with individual students to improve their abilities and address weaknesses.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and upcoming events.
Collaborate with colleagues, including other teachers and school staff, to create a cohesive educational experience through professional learning communities (PLC’s).
to enhance the educational experience for students.
Participate in school meetings, professional development sessions, and after-school or weekend community events.
Spiritual and Moral Development:
Deliver prayer instruction and support the school's faith formation program.
Encourage students to live out Catholic values in their daily lives.
Support the school's mission to educate and empower children of all faiths.
Support the Catholic mission of the school by integrating faith into teaching.
Act as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education.
Valid teaching certification for the state of Michigan.
Previous teaching experience at the middle school level preferred, preferably in a Catholic school setting.
Strong understanding of effective teaching practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Additional Information:
* Can be Full time position with benefits by teaching Math taught half the day. Science taught other half of day.
* Reports to the principal: Sarah Hensien
* School times: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
