SUMMARY SCOPE OF ROLE

Assist the property’s Food and Beverage Management in directing and organizing the staff to provide Restaurant, In-Room Dining and Banquet event service when needed to ensure proper levels of service, food & beverage offerings. Assist with the execution of the restaurant marketing plan to maximize guest promotional awareness, guest satisfaction, and a profitable restaurant.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/RELEVANT WORK QUALIFICATIONS

High School/GED graduate.

4 years hands on experience in restaurant guest services, restaurant foodservice, or related management experience and or well-rounded experience in a full-service, free-standing restaurant or hotel restaurant.

Preferred

2-4 year degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major is ideal but not mandatory; Minimum of 2 years hands on experience within the food and beverage or hospitality industry.

Manage all aspects of a busy restaurant’s operations per scheduled shift.

Manage a team of restaurant employees including servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff.

Assist the Food and Beverage Director in interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, counseling, and disciplining restaurant staff as necessary.

Train and manage restaurant staff in the execution of proper guest service.

Schedule accurate restaurant staff based upon restaurant or hotel business levels and delegate tasks.

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to provide clear directions to the staff.

Organize and conduct Pre-Shift Briefings to communicate pertinent information to the staff such as house counts and menu changes.

Ensure prompt and friendly service. Maintain quality service standards.

Ensure that checklists, requisitions and proper consistent opening and or closing functions are completed each shift.

Ensure consistent restaurant programming based upon the service period.

Interact with guests to gauge satisfaction and to improve the guest experience.

Have a solid working knowledge of the POS (Point of Sales System) to assist with staff challenges or system interruptions.

Move through the facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and act to ensure food quality and service standards are met.

Ensure that all cash handling procedures and daily server reports and cash drops are performed..

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist the Food and Beverage Director in planning and setting up special events (ie, Beer, wine and spirits dinners, Mother’s Day, Easter, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Graduation, New Year’s events, etc. as scheduled.

Assist with and perform monthly inventories as needed.

Strong coaching, counseling, listening, and facilitation skills.

Excellent analytical and proactive problem-solving skills.

Assists with service execution when necessary.

Possess good integrity and business judgment, team orientation, goal orientation, with high personal productivity skills.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned by hotel management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Restaurant Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Food and Beverage and has limited scope of supervisory responsibilities based on function of position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift to 50lbs, clearly verbally communicate with employees and public. Speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, and bend.

MATH ABILITY

Possess basic computer skills related to job function.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
