Job Overview
The Tampa Bay Rowdies are seeking a full-time Head of Performance to join their club, which plays in the USL Championship. This position will report to the Head Coach and Head of Soccer Operations and will be responsible for managing all facets relating to strength and conditioning of the first team. The Rowdies are looking for an individual who can also create and maintain a strong working relationship with all players and members of the coaching staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Create a physical periodization program in line with 1st team tactical periodization.
Deliver program on the field in team training and assist in properly preparing athletes for matches.
Create and implement individual and team recovery strategies and sessions.
Oversee and develop Tampa Bay Rowdies sports science and performance staff.
Implement and oversee a club wide sports science and Strength and Conditioning program.
Contribute to bi-weekly CPD event for Tampa Bay Rowdies and Tampa Bay Rays staff.
Liaise with Head Athletic Trainer to create a clear return to training protocol.
NUTRITION
Organize and oversee pre and post-match food in line with team’s requirements.
Work with Team Operations Manager to ensure road meals provide players and staff with nutritious food at correct timings.
Advise and monitor player supplement intake and ordering.
DATA ANALYSIS
GPS data analysis and monitoring for training and matches.
Provide live in-training feedback for coaching staff.
Provide post training/match feedback to players and coaching staff.
Provide weekly and monthly reports on relevant GPS information.
Work with medical staff to implement a club database to monitor player loading, development and target setting.
TESTING
Be responsible for the design and implementation of first team fitness testing. This includes but is not limited to, fitness both aerobic & anaerobic capacity, speed, agility and power. You should also use these result to create individualized training programs to enhance player performance.
Body composition testing - Provide nutritional guidance
Wellness testing with daily feedback to coaching and medical staff
Hydration testing
Requirements
4+ years of experience working with elite-level athletes and working in a team environment
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Minimum four (4) year college/university bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field
Bilingual - Spanish (preferred, not mandatory)
Microsoft office proficient
Experience with Catapult
Experience developing and implementing strength and conditioning programs at a team level.
