Responsibilities
Provide direct and team-based nursing care for stable patients boarded from the Emergency Department in a transitional stepdown unit setting.
Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform treatments based on PCU-level care protocols.
Work within a team nursing model with LPNs or CNAs depending on acuity, providing appropriate delegation and supervision.
Float to inpatient PCU units based on patient census or if boarding unit is empty.
Use clinical judgment to recognize changes in patient status and escalate care when necessary.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, case managers, and support staff to plan and implement care.
Document patient care activities accurately using the facility's EMR (likely Cerner).
Requirements
Experience: Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience required
Certifications:
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
License: Active Indiana RN license - must be in hand at time of submission (no pending accepted)
First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
