Overview:
The Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering technical training programs that empower our employees with the skills and knowledge they need to excel. This role delivers a blend of hands-on technical expertise with instructional design best practices to create engaging, effective learning experiences that support both new hire onboarding and ongoing skills development This position works closely with subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to create training content that is up-to-date, relevant, and engaging. Additionally, this position oversees the apprenticeship program to ensure that apprentices receive comprehensive training and mentorship to succeed in their roles.
The Sr Technical Trainer is accountable for Designing, delivering, and evaluating on-the-job training programs, supervisor development courses, and apprenticeship initiatives tailored for operations teams. This role plays a critical part in ensuring workforce competency, compliance, and productivity across manufacturing operations.
Location: Onsite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and create comprehensive training resources such as user manuals, troubleshooting guides, operation flowcharts, and hands-on activity sheets tailored to technical processes, electrical systems, machine operation, etc.
Teach technical skills using a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, workshops, hands-on demonstrations, manuals, and worksheets
Provide hands-on training to help employees to develop practical skills and apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance staff, production workers, and other employee groups to identify skill gaps.
Ensure training programs align with safety standards, industry regulations, and internal quality benchmarks.
Assess trainee performance and provide feedback to improve their technical understanding and proficiency.
Provide oversight for the apprenticeship program, ensuring effective implementation, mentorship, and alignment with organizational goals.
Work closely with department heads to develop and implement apprenticeship curriculums.
Evaluate apprentices' technical progress through practical assessments, providing constructive feedback to advance their understanding of technical skills and concepts
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure training content is relevant.
Produce training schedules and/or classroom agendas.
Ensure trainings records are up to date and readily available to operations staff.
