Duties
Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of heavy mobile equipment, such as: construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment. Equipment may include bulldozers, graders, tractors, generators, forklifts, etc.
Remove and replace major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators.
Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
Perform initial and in-process inspections; perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction; perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts; and perform minor body work.
Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
Operate motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision.To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: troubleshoot, maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment to include performance of preventative maintenance checks and services; repair, replace, install, or make adjustments to mobile equipment components and parts; and conduct various operational tests to perform final inspection. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Work requires frequent standing, bending reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a maintenance shop setting and occasionally outside.
