Summary
The Web and Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the Sandhills Community College website, including developing and editing web content, editing website navigation, adhering to the colleges brand standards, and training end users on the development of web content. The Web and Social Media Specialist will also be responsible for designing web and social media content that will engage all sectors of the college community including photos and videos while maintaining accessibility standards.
Essential Functions
Create engaging content and edit existing content for the College website and social media, ensuring all content meets Associated Press Style and the Sandhills Community College Style Guide standards
Edit website navigation structure to optimize user experience
Assist departmental users in developing and displaying content by facilitating group and one-on-one training
Evaluate the effectiveness of the web presence in meeting the goals of the college by using Google Analytics, surveys and focus groups for various audiences
Engage College stakeholders, providing timely communication, training, and training materials
Maintain usability and functionality of website, including ensuring the site meets or exceeds ADA and WCAG standards in regard to accessibility
Make timely edits to the College website including changes to copy, photography, and multimedia, ensuring all content is up to date and relates to Strategic Plan
Advise on best practices, tools and developing trends related to web content strategy, search engine optimization, and other areas of online content
Maintain SEO work and updates on routine basis and monitor outcomes/data for growth and compliance
Support the campus calendar to see that it’s up to date and as well as catalog needs
Support public relations in time of crisis communication or severe weather updates
Regularly audit content and identify gaps or areas of opportunity for key sections of the website and then develop and execute action plans to address in conjunction with marketing and growth efforts according to the strategic plan.
Understand and maintain knowledge of basic design fundamentals; QR codes; and PURLS
Support Social Media Efforts on Facebook, Instagram and Linked IN to carry new programs and messages in marketing to mass audiences.
Support use and integration with SharePoint
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing or Leadership Council
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree AND at least 3 years work experience managing websites required
Demonstrated experience in writing and editing, particularly focused on reworking existing content and?adapting?it?for digital?channels
Demonstrated experience in project management
Experience in a higher education setting preferred
Strong?communication,?organization, time management,?and?analytical?skills
Strong?attention?to?detail
Experience/proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and Adobe Creative Suite ?
Experience/proficiency in common web content management platforms (WordPress, Modern Campus, etc.), HTML?and?CSS
Modern Campus CMS or CMS experience a plus
Social Media experience and digital marketing skills a plus
