Position Summary
The Dual Enrollment Specialist works closely with the Director of Dual Enrollment and is responsible for interacting with and guiding dual enrollment students through all processes pertaining to dual enrollment and accelerated high school programs including recruitment and career awareness. This role involves collaborating with high schools, colleges, and community stakeholders to ensure program success, compliance with policies, and alignment with institutional goals. The Specialist ensures that communication lines with all stakeholders are constantly open, promotes the programs’ benefits, and provides support in expanding opportunities for students.
Salary: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule E3 (Salary range: $39,759 - $62,710)
Benefits: Full time employees are entitled to the College’s benefit package to include: PEEHIP, retirement, leave (annual, sick, and personal), etc.This is a grant funded position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to adhering to the policies, procedures and guidelines as specified by the Southern Union State Community College Employee Handbook, Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the President, and the Associate Dean of Enrollment and Retention duties include the following:
Works closely with the Director of Workforce Development in developing recruiting strategies for career exploration opportunities
Assist in developing, implementing, and managing the dual enrollment program and accelerated high school student program in alignment with the Alabama Community College System Policy 801.30- Admission: Dual Enrollment for Dual Credit and Policy 801.02-Admission: Accelerated High School Student and institutional policies.
Assist prospective students, counselors, and parents with career exploration and skills for success programs.
Serve as a liaison between the institution and participating high schools for the dual enrollment and accelerated high school student programs.
Serve as student success contact for dual enrollment students.
Coordinate the distribution and collection of any materials to dual enrollment students.
Assist in maintaining partnerships with high schools, school districts, local businesses, and other higher education institutions.
Identify and assist in resolving operational problems, administrative issues, and other workflow matters raised by faculty, high school administrators, counselors and students in the program.
Assist with and conducts regular meetings with school administrators, counselors, and faculty to coordinate dual enrollment activities.
Communicates regularly and ensure timely reciprocal exchange of information with key stakeholders, including high school administrators, counselors, faculty, students, and parents.
Assist with promoting the dual enrollment program through outreach efforts, such as informational sessions and marketing campaigns.
Assist with student recruitment, application processes, and registration.
Assists with implementing program guidelines, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency and quality.
Assist in providing orientation opportunities, handbooks, departmental syllabi, and other resources for faculty teaching dual enrollment courses.
Assist in providing training and workshops for high school dual enrollment instructors, counselors, and college faculty involved in the program.
Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports to the Director of Workforce Development, the Director of Dual Enrollment, and other key college personnel
Serve on committees as requested.
Perform other related job duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree required.
One year of work experience in a high school and/or college setting required.Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
