Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineering Manager who will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering department in the development of high-performance gas detection systems used in industrial and hazardous environments using H2scan’s Advanced Hydrogen Sensor Technology. The focus of this position is the leadership of the electrical design that includes the development of analog and digital circuitry for sensor, power management, signal conditioning, and wired/wireless communication. The Engineering Manager will ensure that all electronic designs meet applicable regulatory and safety standards, and are optimized for manufacturability, reliability, and long-term support. The ideal candidate will have a will a strong background in electrical engineering principals and a track record of delivering innovative ideas to well-engineered industrial products.
Essential Responsibilities
· Be a hands-on manager with your staff and be engaged and participate in NPD projects. Provides support and guidance to EE team to ensure on-time execution of deliverables, occasional direct ownership when required.
· Manage the full product development lifecycle from concept to production, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance (e.g., ATEX, IECEx, UL, CSA).
· Knowledge of company QA/QC process and procedures.
· Drive efforts in analog front-end design, low-power design, EMI/EMC compliance, and sensor interface development. [Not needed in my opinion, then the applicant will ask for higher salary saying this is two roles and h2scan wants a Designer + Manager at the same time]
· Oversee detailed electrical design efforts, including circuit design, component selection, and board-level system integration. Review schematics, layouts, bring-up plans, design of experiment (DOE) and verification plans (component and system level).
· Facilitate communication among stakeholders and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
· Collaborate with mechanical, sensor and firmware engineering teams to ensure full system integration. Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, sensor, compliance and firmware engineering teams to perform complex design trade-off analysis and inform high quality decision making at a product level to ensure full system integration.
· Establish, implement, and maintain administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
· Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
· Prioritize and manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
· Define engineering best practices, design standards, and documentation protocols.
· Participate in vendor evaluations and strategic sourcing decisions for critical components.
· Review work and projects for technical accuracy.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains of new engineering staff. Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for EE department, partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation, and selection processes.
· Prepares, monitors and manages departmental budget and expenditures.
· Oversee the daily workflow of the department. Resolves and manages priority conflicts between tasks, projects, and emergent requests that compete for resources.
· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
· At least ten years of related experience required
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
· Knowledge of manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance processes and procedures.
· Familiarity with Rigid, Flex and Rigid Flex PCB design
· Experience in electronic design, including component selection, schematic design, and familiarity with tools like Altium Designer and OrCAD Capture.Company Description
