Duties Summary
Participates in the installation, repair and maintenance of high voltage highway lighting systems; climb poles, relocates street and highway lighting arms; isolating transformers, luminaires, and wires as required. Measures, cuts and threads electrical conduits; makes offsets and bends for the installation of underground electrical circuits. Restore and repair fallen power lines and extinguish electrical fires. Restore for temporary use, poles and standards damaged by traffic accidents or unusual weather conditions. Locate and repair short, burnt-out open circuits and other defects in overhead and under ground lines. Changes and replaces burnt out lamps, broken fixtures and control equipment. Subject to emergency calls during off-working hours to perform emergency repairs to the highway lighting system. Makes periodic inspections of the highway lighting system and performs other duties as required.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Electrician's License Requirement: A valid State of Hawaii Journey Worker Electrician's License or Journey Worker Industrial Electrician's license is required at time of application. (Please attach a valid, legible copy to your application) If you do not attach your Journey Worker Electrician's License or Journey Worker Industrial Electrician's License, you will be deemed ineligible.
NOTE: Hawaii does not have reciprocity agreements with other jurisdictions.

Commercial Driver's License Requirement: A valid State of Hawaii Commercial Driver's License, Class B, at the time of application. (Please attach a valid, legible copy to your application) If you do not attach your valid Commercial Driver's License, you will be deemed ineligible.
A valid out-of-state CDL may also be accepted. If you are selected for this position, you must transfer your out-of-state CDL to a Hawaii-issued CDL prior to your employment start date and within 30 days of arriving in Hawaii. Your Hawaii-issued CDL will be verified by the hiring agency before you can start work. Please contact the Honolulu CDL Office at for information on how to obtain a Hawaii CDL.
The Federal Department of Transportation regulations require pre-employment testing for controlled substances. If you are selected for this position, the hiring agency will notify you of when and where to report for testing.

TESTING INFORMATION
The examination for this recruitment will be conducted on an unassembled basis where the examination score is based on an evaluation and rating of your education and experience. It is therefore important that your employment application provide a clear and detailed description of the duties and responsibilities of each position you held.
In-person interviews and/or further testing in Hawaii may be required at the discretion of the hiring agency.
