Heavy Highway/Civil Construction Estimator

Company Overview

We are a leading construction firm specializing in heavy highway and civil construction projects, including concrete, earthwork, underground utilities, excavation, and roadway work. We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team and support our bidding process.

Position Summary

The Estimator will prepare accurate cost estimates for heavy highway and civil construction projects, focusing on concrete, earthwork, underground utilities, excavation, and roadway scopes. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, this office-based role involves analyzing project plans and collaborating with project teams to deliver competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy highway and civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for concrete, earthwork, utilities, excavation, and roadway work.

Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify scope and requirements.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to validate estimates.

Utilize estimating software to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.

Present bids to management and assist in bid reviews.

Monitor material costs and industry trends to maintain competitive pricing.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in heavy highway/civil construction preferred, or equivalent experience as a Project Manager/Superintendent transitioning to an office-based role.

Strong knowledge of concrete, earthwork, underground utilities, excavation, and roadway construction processes.

Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Agtek) and Microsoft Excel.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is a plus.
