A Brief Overview

Responsible to monitor the workflow and productivity of the Processing staff members. Ensures that patient care products are decontaminated, assembled and sterilized, according to Infection Control and Quality Assurance parameters.

What you will do

Responsible for ensuring Infection Control guidelines are followed in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution procedures.

Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Quality Assurance Department, or as may be required by law.

Maintains clinical competency in order to serve as a resource to staff and to participate in staff assignments as needed.

Assists with coordinating daily work assignments to maximize departmental efficiency.

Comprehends and interprets Avera policies and procedures.

Supervises, orientates, and evaluates job performance of Sterile Processing Technicians. Keeps manager informed of personnel issues or concerns.

Utilizes computer for required informational access, communication with supervisor, staff members, customers, compiling unit productivity data and reporting, and developing workflow guidelines.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

Associate's or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one year of related experience and/or training
