Job Summary:

Ogden Community Schools is seeking an innovative and student-centered K-5 Computer Science Teacher to join our educational team for the 2025–2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for technology and computational thinking, create engaging learning experiences, and foster digital literacy in young learners. This teacher will also collaborate with colleagues to integrate technology across the curriculum and support student growth in foundational computer science skills.

Essential Functions:

Instruction & Curriculum

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging computer science lessons aligned with Iowa Core Standards and ISTE Standards for Students.

Introduce foundational computer science concepts, including coding, robotics, digital citizenship, and problem-solving.

Integrate technology into core subjects to enhance learning and digital literacy.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, using a variety of hands-on activities, software, and digital tools.

Student Engagement & Relationships

Build strong, respectful relationships with K-5 students to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Foster a culture of curiosity, creativity, and perseverance in technology exploration.

Encourage responsible digital citizenship and ethical technology use.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and guide instruction.

Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with students, families, and staff.

Analyze assessment data to identify learning needs and provide targeted support.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology and computational thinking into grade-level instruction.

Participate actively in professional learning communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and professional development focused on educational technology.

Model lifelong learning, technological adaptability, and contribute to a positive, respectful school culture.

Other Duties as Assigned

Support school-wide technology initiatives, STEM programs, and extracurricular activities.

Uphold all district policies and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior at all times.

Qualifications:

Valid Iowa Teaching License

#277 K-8 Computer Science / #278-1 K-12 Computer Science Specialist or

#102 K-6 Teacher Elementary Classroom and willingness to obtain #277 or #278-1

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to build meaningful relationships with elementary students

Commitment to collaboration, technology integration, and student achievement

Previous teaching experience in technology or computer science is preferred but not required
