Job Description:

Hico ISD is seeking a dynamic and creative Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher to lead instruction in AV Production, Graphic Design, and Yearbook at the secondary level. The ideal candidate will be passionate about visual media, possess strong technical and instructional skills, and be committed to preparing students for post-secondary success in digital arts, media, and communications.

This position includes oversight of the school’s yearbook production and multimedia projects, requiring a collaborative, innovative educator who can lead students through hands-on, project-based learning. Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver curriculum in AV Production, Graphic Design, and Yearbook aligned with CTE standards and current industry practices.

Instruct students in tools and software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign), DSLR cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.

Manage the complete yearbook production cycle, including theme creation, photography, page layout, editing, and coordination with publishers.

Guide students in producing multimedia content such as video announcements, event promotions, and digital designs.

Create a safe, inclusive, and collaborative classroom environment that supports creativity and teamwork.

Integrate employability skills, industry-based certifications, and real-world applications into daily instruction.

Maintain classroom equipment and foster responsible technology use.

Stay current on trends in media arts and incorporate new tools and approaches into instruction.

Collaborate with faculty, administration, and external partners to enhance learning experiences.

Participate in required school events and professional development. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts, Communications, Education, or a related field (required)

Valid Texas teaching certification in CTE or ability to obtain certification through an approved program

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and relevant multimedia tools

Industry experience and/or certifications in AV production, graphic design, or media arts strongly preferred

Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills

Experience teaching at the secondary level is a plus Preferred Skills:

Experience supervising student publications, such as yearbooks or school media teams

Ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds

Familiarity with industry certifications (e.g., Adobe Certified Professional) and CTE pathways Contract/Compensation/Benefits:

10-month (or per district calendar) Standard teacher contract

Salary based on Hico ISD pay scale and candidate’s experience

$300 monthly employer contribution toward employee group health insurance premium
