Reporting to the Production Supervisor, Metal, the Metal Fabricator III is a strong team player who enjoys working in a creative, problem solving, and fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is a full-time, hourly position scheduled Monday-Friday with the availability for overtime when necessary.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
Fabricates, assembles, and finishes custom metal projects by using knowledge of metal fabrication processes (i.e., cutting, welding, gluing, shearing, bending, etc.)
Can proficiently sand metal and use Bondo when necessary
Has strong knowledge in reading, interpreting, and scaling blueprints with little guidance
Completes quality control checks during build process, to ensure DI standards are met
Proficient in all welding positions (flat, vertical, overhead)
Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures necessary parts prior to assembly. This may include using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
Follows company safety policies and processes
Open to receiving guidance while also being proactive and capable of initiating tasks independently
Adheres to established work hours and takes responsibility for managing time effectively
Willingly coaches and mentors Metal Fabricator I and II team members to help them continue to build their skill set
Anticipates potential challenges or issues on projects proactively, utilizing knowledge and past experiences to offer solutions and recommendations aimed at prevention
Shares best practices and project build knowledge with other team members
When needed, fulfills additional production duties assigned based on skill set
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Demonstrates strong technical skills in MIG welding
Has knowledge of TIG welding
Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and high performing work ethic
Proficient knowledge of materials and their functions
Communicates professionally and respectfully with co-workers in both verbal and written form.
Proficient knowledge of basic geometry, fractions, & decimals - both standard and metric
Consistently holds self accountable and has excellent knowledge of general production processes
Exhibits a positive, professional attitude and approachable communication/leadership style
Keen eye for quality control and quality assurance
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Welding degree from a technical school is strongly preferred
5-8 years of experience as a metal fabricator required
Prior experience working in custom metal fabrication environment or sign fabrication is strongly preferred

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl
The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Employee must be able to talk and hear

While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
