About This Position

About Us: Advanced Technologies Group (ATG), established in 1991, and located in West Des Moines (IA), is the country’s premier provider of software solutions to the USA’s largest judicial and correctional agencies. All software design, development, maintenance and support is done by full-time employees working at ATG’s HQ; we do not sub-contract.

About Position: SQL Server Administrator I assist with monitoring and management of mission-critical databases and supporting ATG software developers with their database requests.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Monitor successful completion of automated database jobs, troubleshoot issues.

Monitor database performance, track performance metrics (index usage, CPU, Memory, I/O statistics), and offer tuning and optimization options.

Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.

Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries.

Develop and implement automation scripts for routine database tasks.

Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field

Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, T-SQL and database query optimization techniques.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (e.g., Azure SQL Managed Instance and Database).

Experience with PowerShell scripting or other automation tools.

Knowledge of other database systems (e.g. DB2) is a plus.
