We are seeking a P&C Adjuster – Liability to join our claims management division. This individual is responsible for adjusting intermediate exposure automobile liability and general liability property damage and bodily injury claims. This includes the monitoring of defense counsel’s compliance to our best practice litigation handling guidelines specific to our required reporting cycles and budget compliance.

Essential Functions

Maintain weekly and monthly team stats

Communicate timely via email, fax and phone with clients, agents and vendors

Review and understand insurance policies in order to determine coverage for a claim

Policy review and coverage analysis for proper coverage interpretation

Draft coverage letters and discuss with clients and agents

Investigate liability claims

Properly evaluate liability claims and report to excess carriers and reinsurers accordingly

Roundtable claims with management and counsel, as required

Proactively investigate and evaluate claim intermediate exposures and post accurate reserves accordingly for matters valued up to $100,000.

Negotiate and settle claims within authority granted

Assign and manage defense counsel for litigated claims

Ability to maintain 100% monthly closing ratio

Maintain current weekly diary

Properly manage and timely address incoming correspondence

Coordinate, assign, direct and monitor legal and other related vendors

Efficiently manage vendor related costs

Present claims at file reviews via Teams or telephone, as required

Attend trials and mediations, as required

Nonessential Functions

Additional tasks as requested by management

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business or related equivalent education

Knowledge of common software programs such as Microsoft Office and Excel

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to complete internal and external reports

Strong cost- benefit analysis, decision making and organizational skills

Great customer service skills

Detail oriented and flexible in working with various service plan structures

Preferred Qualifications

1-2+ years of experience adjusting liability claims preferred, including litigation management

Familiarity with handling of first party claims as well as liability claims

Multi-jurisdictional tort law and overall federal law experience a plus

Experience in reporting key exposures to excess carriers and reinsurers a plus

Insurance designations not mandatory but a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range is $55,000 - $65,000 annually. Pay will be based on experience.
