Job Description
The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring the proper flow of goods, and supporting operational excellence in a dynamic warehouse and production environment. This role involves a combination of data entry, cycle counting, order reconciliation, and physical inventory handling. As a key player between warehousing, production, purchasing, and logistics teams, the Inventory Control Clerk ensures inventory integrity across systems and storage areas to support business continuity and customer satisfaction.
Essential Inventory Control Clerk Duties:
Conduct regular cycle counts and audits in accordance with established schedules.
Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
Accurately update and maintain inventory data in ERP/WMS systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
Assist with close out production orders and ensure appropriate inventory is consumed and recorded.
Monitor and track material consumption across departments; verify stock picked against production and shipping requirements.
Receive, unpack, label, and restock items; ensure products are correctly stored and organized.
Assist with preparing inventory balance reports, shortage summaries, and consumption reports.
Collaborate with receiving, shipping, production, and purchasing teams to ensure timely and accurate material handling.
Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve inventory-related issues
Assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance inventory control and warehouse efficiency.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with safety protocols.
Assist with monitoring inventory levels proactively and alert management to potential stockouts or overages
Perform general clerical duties as needed, including data entry, internal requests, etc.
Performs additional duties as directed by management to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Inventory Control Clerk Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2–4 years of experience in inventory control, cycle counting, warehouse operations, or production support.
Working knowledge of inventory systems such as ERP or WMS; Microsoft Dynamics NAV experience is a plus.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle basic issues with sound judgment.
Strong Time Management
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma inventory practices is preferred.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, use hands to handle materials, and communicate effectively.
Must have visual acuity to read labels, documents, and use electronic systems.
Regularly lift or move up to 75 lbs.
Work performed in a warehouse or production facility environment, with exposure to varying temperatures and physical activity.
