Job Title:

HR Business Partner 3

Department:

Human Resources Strategic Initiatives

When staff join the Ohio State Office of Human Resources, they become part of one of America’s most comprehensive universities, one of Ohio’s largest employers and an exceptional team of professionals who provide proactive Human Resources services and solutions.

The Human Resources Consultant (HR Business Partner 3) serves as a consultative role in the Strategic Initiatives function of Human Resources in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) to ensure delivery of excellent customer service and champion continuous process improvement.

The HR Consultant will offer solutions, execute HR operations, provide, and interpret HR-related reports, and support strategic decisions. This position will be embedded within CFAES and will report to the college's Human Resources Business Partners. Through ongoing and regular collaboration with HR Connection (Ohio State’s HR service delivery center), HR Centers of Excellence, and Human Resources Business Partners, the HR Consultant will help ensure the delivery of distinguished customer service for core HR transactions and inquiries.

The HR Consultant guides leaders to effectively utilize core HR centers of excellence resources such as total rewards and talent management programs. The role will also support leaders, managers, and supervisors with HR-related activities throughout the employee lifecycle such as recruiting, onboarding, pay and job changes, performance management, life events, and terminations. The HR team assigned to CFAES is collaborative, solution-oriented and fast-working. Success comes to the team through strong relationship-building skills, excellent communication, and understanding of the business and mission of the college.

About CFAES:

The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University is comprised of 402 faculty, 1,405 staff, nearly 3,500 students, 50,000 living alumni, 47,000 animals, 88 counties, and 11,000 acres of land. We are one college with three campuses (Columbus, CFAES Wooster, and State-wide; with our faculty/staff split evenly among the three) and three missions (Research, Teaching, Extension) all dedicated to one essential purpose: We sustain life.

CFAES is both literally the cornerstone college of our university — which began as Ohio A&M — and the cornerstone of sustaining human life on earth because of our disciplines.

CFAES includes departments supporting a breadth of work around food and food systems, a wide range of production, environmental and ecosystem sustainability, policy and economics, and health. CFAES is the only college at Ohio State with its own second campus in Wooster which features our two-year technical institute (Ohio ATI) as well as significant research facilities. CFAES is also in your communities through our Ohio State University Extension and 4-H programs in all 88 counties and our research stations and field labs throughout the state.

At CFAES, we strive to sustain life and to address grand challenges facing humanity and our world. We do it through discovery and research, education, and partnership – but mostly at CFAES, we sustain life through the persistent efforts of each one of our people.
