The Network Server Administrator provides expert-level specialized IT service support of ERIK (Enterprise for Research, Innovation and Knowledge) personnel, in offices located throughout campus and remotely, and the server systems and related infrastructure that support them including Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Dell VxRail and APEX Backup, and cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure.
The individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment by applying software updates, security patches, and managing systems per all applicable OSU standards and protocols, including the Information Security Control Requirements (ISCR). Maintains a working knowledge of these standards as they evolve. Utilizes help desk software to record work activities and build knowledge repositories. Works both autonomously and as part of a team, consulting with ERIK team members and other campus technical expertise to reach timely resolutions. Identifies and recommends technical and procedural changes to management to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the overall ERIK support system and processes. Participates in both ERIK and campus-level technical working groups to establish processes, procedures, and solutions. Creates and updates technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and procedural guides to assist lower-tier support teams and end-users. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4 years of relevant work experience.
Extensive demonstrated experience managing and maintaining Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in an Active Directory environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals of varying technical expertise.
Proven ability to independently research issues and propose solutions.
Strong workplace ethics - including punctuality, timeliness, courtesy, follow-through, and teamwork.
Desired Qualifications:
5-8 years of relevant work experience.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, and RHEL.
Experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter, Dell VxRail and APEX backup, Microsoft SCCM, IIS, and SQL Server, Apache HTTP and Tomcat, MySQL, Crowdstrike Falcon, Tenable Nessus Vulnerability Scanner, as well as hybrid cloud operations combining on premise servers with AWS or Azure services.
Experience with project planning and execution. Knowledge of vulnerability scanning, management, and remediation processes.

Additional Information:
The offered salary for this position will fall within the job profile's salary range of $81,000.00 - $85,000.00 and will be based on internal equity, the candidate's qualifications, and the unit's available budget being the primary determining factor.
