AWS Cloud Engineer Location: Currently Fully Remote (On-site in Reston VA, if needed in future) Work Status: US citizens only due to federal/government requirement. What is the Project:
We’re building a shared AWS cloud infrastructure platform to be used by tenant application development teams. This is a greenfield infrastructure platform build, supporting other teams who are conducting 100% cloud-native application development. We are not working with any legacy migration, no lift and shift, only new cloud-native development. The platform is EKS on Terraform, heavily leveraging IaC managed through robust CI/CD automation. We are not directly building customer-facing applications – We’re focused on the shared AWS infrastructure platform that enables other teams building customer facing apps, who we partner with closely. We provide AWS architectural consultation and coordination regarding the shared infrastructure services we provide to our tenant app dev teams. Who does the Project Need:
We’re looking for deep, hands-on expertise in Terraform on EKS, AWS networking, CI/CD automation, and GitLab. This is a highly technical, architect-level role requiring someone who is self-directed, comfortable writing production-grade IaC, and experienced in building and maintaining scalable, secure environments. This role is hands-on in the IaC on a daily basis. The ideal candidate can work independently, drive solutions from concept to implementation, and interface confidently with application teams. This is not a junior or entry-level engineering position—we have those roles staffed already. We're seeking someone with advanced technical skill, mature judgment, and the ability to deliver high-impact results from day one.
