Position Summary:

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences Department of Nursing at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a 12-month, full time Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist position, to join our community starting in July 2025. This is a 12 month, in-person position with occasional evening and weekend commitments. The position is offered for an initial two-year appointment, with potential for renewal for a second two-year appointment and subsequent three-year appointments based on performance.

The Healthcare Simulation Operations (HSO) Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Simulation and Clinical Learning Resource Center by managing AV and IT operations, overseeing daily and long-term facility functions, and contributing to the department’s strategic growth. Reporting to the Simulation Coordinator, the HSO Specialist ensures the seamless integration of simulation technology to enhance student learning experiences. This includes programming and operating simulation software, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining simulation and skills lab equipment. Additionally, the HSO collaborates with faculty to provide technical support, ensuring that simulations and lab courses run smoothly and effectively.

Beyond technical support, the HSO Specialist manages daily operations such as inventory tracking and procurement of supplies and equipment. They serve as the primary contact for simulation facility logistics, vendor coordination, and operational troubleshooting. Responsibilities also include training faculty, students, and staff on simulation technology and providing tours for prospective students, alumni, and clinical partners, which fall on occasional evenings and weekends.

Strategically, the HSO Specialist contributes to the department’s long-term growth by participating in committees, supporting research and grant initiatives. They also help plan for future equipment and technology needs to ensure the simulation program remains cutting-edge. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, organizational skills, and a commitment to advancing simulation-based learning in healthcare education.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have or demonstrate:

● Basic medical and simulation knowledge.

● Troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with technicians, clinicians, students, staff, and administration.

● Media production, including recording, editing, archiving, and distribution.

● Knowledge of MicrosoftTM Office and G Suite. Knowledge of medical terminology and/or learning management systems (LMS’s) preferred.

● Excellent oral and written communications and collaboration skills, and the ability to work on diverse teams.

Persons with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations in order to perform the essential functions of the position. If the requested accommodation(s) cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, the applicant may not be eligible for the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Requires a Bachelor's degree. Must have healthcare-related field experience, such as RN; EMT; or RT, etc.

● CHSE or CHSOS preferred but willing to consider a person who will achieve this certification within one year of hire. Once achieved, will be required to maintain certification per SSH guidelines.

● At least two (2) years working in technical support or information technology, preferably with at least one (1) year in a healthcare simulation facility.

● Demonstrated troubleshooting experience and knowledge of various computer hardware and software applications required, with healthcare simulation experience strongly preferred.
