Experience working in a machine shop (milling, turning, grinding)
At least 2 years of experience working in a regulated manufacturing About Our Client
Our client is a company that specializes in advanced surface engineering solutions. Their services are designed to enhance the performance, durability, and reliability of various components used in demanding industrial applications.
Services Offered:
Thermal Spray Coatings: Application of protective coatings to improve wear resistance, reduce corrosion, and extend the lifespan of components.
Precision Machining: High-accuracy machining services for complex parts, ensuring tight tolerances and superior surface finishes.
Surface Finishing: Processes such as grinding, polishing, and honing to achieve desired surface characteristics and improve component performance.
Research and Development: Collaboration with clients to develop customized solutions tailored to specific application requirements. Job Description
Responsibilities Overview:
This position is responsible for preparing accurate job estimates, developing manufacturing standards, designing tooling, interfacing with customers, and collaborating across internal departments such as Production Control, Purchasing, and Sales to meet delivery expectations.
Quoting New Jobs:
When a customer submits a request for quotation, the engineer evaluates and prepares a comprehensive cost estimate. This includes defining the manufacturing sequence, estimating cycle times, identifying tooling and vendor needs, outlining inspection and shipping procedures, and determining lead times to fulfill the order.
Creating Manufacturing Standards:
Upon receiving an order, the engineer develops a Job Standard based on the original estimate or an existing standard. This document serves as the detailed blueprint for Manufacturing and becomes the official Work Order Traveler. The engineer ensures all specifications, drawings, and special customer instructions from the purchase order are accurately incorporated.
The engineer is also responsible for keeping the Job Standard current by revising it to reflect any process changes or improvements during production.
Tooling and Fixture Design:
The engineer conceptualizes and designs any required jigs, fixtures, or tooling that will ensure high-quality production while balancing cost-efficiency. Key considerations include tool durability, production volume, ease of use, and manufacturing cost.
Production Coordination:
Close coordination with Production Control is essential to align tooling and standard release timelines with production schedules and customer deadlines.
