Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating complex technical and business projects to ensure successful delivery within scope, timeline, and budget. This role involves the development and management of comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures, schedules, budgets, risk mitigation strategies, and resource allocation across project phases.
Job Description
Lead and manage projects in accordance with corporate standards, operating procedures, and departmental guidelines.
Oversee all aspects of project scope, schedule, budget, risk and issue management, change control, and governance.
Promote a culture of proactive risk management and team accountability, embedding appropriate controls into project planning.
Understand and align with project success criteria, guiding delivery teams toward achieving key objectives.
Develop detailed project plans with clearly defined milestones, tasks, durations, and resource assignments.
Monitor progress of project activities to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery, focusing attention on high-priority items.
Manage vendor deliverables and ensure adherence to contractual obligations and project expectations.
Lead cross-functional teams, encouraging open communication, collaboration, and results-driven execution.
Track and report team performance against project expectations using key performance metrics.
Provide regular status updates to stakeholders, including risk and issue reports, escalation needs, and overall health assessments.
Maintain project schedules in Microsoft Project Online and generate reports using Microsoft Project Online and Power BI.
Demonstrate strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
May mentor and provide direction to junior project staff or cross-functional teams.
Provide sound judgment in identifying effective techniques for complex project issues.
Engage with senior leadership and executive stakeholders as project needs dictate.
Successfully manage highly complex projects with minimal supervision.
Apply advanced knowledge of business operations and systems relevant to project scope.
Lead organizational change management and process improvement initiatives.
May oversee resource planning, onboarding, and training for new project managers.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the Project Management Office (PMO).
Forecast and manage resource needs for the successful execution of enterprise-level initiatives. Job Skills Required
Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience beyond degree requirements.
At least 6 years as a Project Manager leading large-scale projects.
Experience with Microsoft Project Online or Project Server for schedule creation and maintenance.
Familiarity with Power BI for project reporting.
Program management experience (minimum 2 years preferred).
Experience with task tracking tools such as JIRA (preferred).
Understanding of the energy, market operations, or utility industry (preferred). Education
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
Master's Degree in a related field (preferred).
Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certificate if highly preferred
