Lead Field Service Engineer - Marine Drives Job Summary
The Lead Field Service Engineer is a key technical role responsible for overseeing the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of drive systems across customer sites. Operating with limited supervision, this individual leads onsite service delivery, provides troubleshooting support, and ensures optimal system performance. The position involves direct interaction with customers and internal engineering teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions and service excellence.
Lead Field Service Engineer - Marine Drives Responsibilities
Lead and execute technical commissioning and service tasks for industrial drive systems at customer sites
Diagnose and resolve complex issues in the field, performing corrective actions as needed
Create and maintain detailed documentation including service logs, maintenance protocols, and commissioning reports
Serve as an onsite technical leader, independently or while managing small teams
Provide project management support and technical leadership during service engagements
Conduct customer training sessions and technical presentations on drive operation and best practices
Collaborate with customer support, engineering, sales, and parts teams to identify follow-on service opportunities
Recommend upgrades, spare parts, and services to enhance customer productivity and satisfaction
Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance, inspections, and modernization efforts
Support proposal development and bidding efforts for customer retrofit or upgrade projects
Respond to emergency service requests and provide after-hours technical support as needed
Travel domestically and internationally to customer locations, including offshore assignments
Comply with all site safety protocols, including those required for shipboard and offshore work Lead Field Service Engineer - Marine Drives Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
OR Associate degree with at least 5 years of additional relevant industry experience
At least 5 years of hands-on field service or commissioning experience in industrial drive systems
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Department of Defense security clearance
Willingness and ability to travel up to 85%, often with short notice Lead Field Service Engineer - Marine Drives Preferred Position Requirements
Familiarity with medium voltage drive platforms such as MV7000, SD7000, MV3000
Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical assignments and apply engineering judgment in the field
Deep experience in drive installation, testing, and commissioning in maritime or industrial environments
Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including vessel boarding and offshore work
Must pass offshore survival training (HUET certification required) #LI-Onsite
