Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting applicants for the permanent, full-time position of Master Data Administrator in the Procurement division of Finance & Asset Management.

Under the direction of the Procurement Practices Consultant, the Master Data Administrator provides expertise in the SAP MM module. They are responsible for administering SAP master data processes efficiently, following stated guidelines and procedures. They have a direct impact on the timeliness and integrity of information recorded in HRM’s ERP system.
In addition to their key responsibilities, the Master Data Administrator is expected to integrate established goals and objectives, recognize the roles and responsibilities within Procurement. The Master Data Administrator will consider risk mitigation strategies, standardized programs and practices as they carry out their work by applying appropriate processes and HRM’s standardized workflows. Procurement staff are expected to advocate for and demonstrate the value of public procurement; to demonstrate a high level of professional values and ethics; to apply strict compliance with confidentiality and protection of information regulations; and to integrate the mission, vision and values of the Procurement department in everyday practice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of Master Data Administrator will also include but are not limited to the following:
Enter and ensure that all data, including those for materials, agreements (i.e. standing offers, master framework and scheduling agreements) and vendor information are maintained and current
Responsible to update, maintain and communicate changes to specialized commodity agreements, including fuel and bulk salt agreement pricing structures (e.g. ongoing changes through rack pricing and/or the Consumer Price Index)
Ensure that data is accurate and compliant with business requirements and maintain data integrity through audit sampling and spotting or avoiding issues like data entry mistakes
Provide sound recommendations to management regarding SAP functionality and processes
Recommend and request changes to ERP reports, enhancements and forms
Perform and assist in ERP system testing related to system updates, error resolution and requested customizations
Provide assistance to procurement related ERP users for day-to-day technical issues and escalate as necessary
Maintain material master naming convention guidelines for all materials, descriptions and material groups
Perform data-related and system administrative duties
Reorganize data as required to increase efficiency and correct problems in current data
Propose and employ continuous process improvement related to ERP and master data processes
Operate under the established procurement contingency/continuity of operations plan by providing assistance during urgent and/or emergency management operationsMay perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Completion of a post-secondary certificate or diploma program in a business or database administration related field
Demonstrated practical experience in entering large volumes of data
Formal training or experience using the SAP MM Module is preferred
Hands-on experience in applying data standards is an asset Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficient with MS Excel, Word and Adobe
Strong organizational and time management skills

WORK STATUS: Permanent, full-time
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm; 35 hours per week. Flex options to work outside of these hours and hybrid may be available.
SALARY: $30.28 per hour; level 5 as per the collective agreement between NSGEU Local 222 and HRM.
