Coordinate with facility and equipment reservations, and special event requests

Responsible for setup/preparation and breakdown/clean-up of special events

Responsible for knowing the day-to-day operations and daily events scheduled

Responsible for staffing all Special Event Monitor shiftsStaffing/Scheduling: 30%

It is the responsibility of the Special Events Program Manager (PM) to create and maintain the employee schedules for the Special Events Monitors.

Schedules are created by using SubItUp with the PM overseeing this process as events are scheduled and according to facility needs.

The PM should be available as needed during special event programming. On occasion, it may be necessary for the PM to assist getting a shift covered upon short notice and/or fill in for that employee.

The PM is also responsible for filling in when a student employee does not come in for a shift without notice. It will be up to the discretion of the appropriate administrative staff member and the PM to take disciplinary action according to the Facility Manual in these instances.Employee Hiring/Training/Supervision: 15%

The PM serves as a liaison between Special Event Monitors and the Administration Staff, providing feedback as needed.

The PM will assist the administrative staff with employee performance evaluations.

The PM is responsible for holding all Special Events Monitor student employees accountable to the Student Employee Discipline and Work Performance Guidelines as described in the Facility Manual.

The PM is responsible for maintaining Special Event Monitor employee records. This includes, but is not limited to: CPR certification, up to date email, phone numbers, and emergency contacts, disciplinary records.

The PM will assist in the hiring of new student employees. The PM is responsible for reviewing all applications. The PM is also responsible for scheduling interviews for selected applicants, assisting in the interview process, and notifying candidates of hire/no-hire.Other Duties As Assigned: 5%

Position Overview

The Special Events Program Manager will enforce and implement policies and procedures or complete particular responsibilities so that the University population has the opportunity to participate in specially requested recreational programs, facilities, and services. Program Managers are expected to work 12 to 15 hours per week. Those hours can be broken into office hours and floating hours to use when needed. The Program Manager must be certified in CPR/AED or become certified within one month of appointment.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
