About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Flight Test Engineer to join our Flight Test team. This is a hybrid role based in Palo Alto, CA with a significant portion of time spent at our test site in Hollister, CA. As a Flight Test Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and execution of research and development flight testing. This involves developing detailed flight test plans, executing the tests, analyzing the data and writing the test reports for relevant stakeholders. Previous experience in flight testing is essential.

What You’ll Do:

Perform flight test planning, flight readiness reviews, flight briefs/debriefs, act as test director during test execution, perform post flight data analysis and test reporting

Partner with our Aircraft and Flight System Development Teams (e.g. GNC, Aero) to drive test requirements and act as their point of contact to Flight Test

Work closely with the regulatory team to support certification testing, including generating and presenting certification artifacts

Travel to remote flight test locations as required (about one week a quarter)

What You’ll Need:

3-6 years of flight test experience, including aircraft performance analysis and verification against requirements

Proficiency in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent, applying statistical methods to validate performance and characterize uncertainty

Experience evaluating sUAS/aircraft handling qualities, stability, and control

B.S. in Engineering or equivalent practical experience

Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate

Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts and designs to colleagues across disciplines

Comfort with a fast-paced, operationally rigorous environment, and an appetite for innovation

Ability to bend, lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed to perform job duties

Ability to be on your feet and move for up to 10 hours in a day as needed to perform job duties

Bonus:

3+ years experience in flight testing Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (sUAS)

The US base salary for this full-time position is the salary below + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary details during the hiring process.

Salary

$149,000—$173,000 USD
