General Summary of Student Internship – Human Services Master's degree)
As part of the Master’s degree program in Human Services with the Safe Children Coalition, the internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the field and in the office setting. The internship focus for Child Welfare Case management will be on applying academic knowledge to real-world settings, supporting individuals and communities through various human services programs.
Duties included but not limited to:
Assisting clients with accessing community resources such as housing, food assistance, healthcare, and counseling services
Supporting case managers and social workers with learning what information is required in court, home visits, intake assessments, documentation, and follow-up services
Observing and participating in in person client visits, virtual and in person staffing’s, court, home and/or school visits, and outreach programs
Maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all interactions
Contributing to the development and implementation of case plans and assessments under the supervision of Safe Children Coalition certified staff
Attending staff meetings and training sessions to enhance understanding of human services practices and policies
The internship provides valuable exposure to the diverse roles within the human services field, helping to develop critical thinking, effective communication, trauma informed, organizational, and problem-solving skills essential for a future career in social services, advocacy, or community support roles.
