Job Summary
The Operation Manager oversees the facility’s operation and Personnel. The priority for this position is to ensure safety while providing guidance for continuous improvement and technical support for the facility to meet the Company objectives. He/ She holds the responsibility for the quality, quantity and timeliness of the production; therefore, will be responsible for effectively communicating with responsible parties. This person has the authority to shut down the operations if goals are not met or safety is an issue.
Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesProcess Support
Establish and maintain monitoring systems for key operational parameters.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, cost and productivity.
Monitor and maintain necessary production quality standards and coordinate production quality consistency between sites.
Establish and/or maintain operational procedures.
Provide troubleshooting support to minimize the impact of process deviations and provide follow-up to prevent reoccurrence.
Work with maintenance to establish and ensure PM of equipment to reduce overall maintenance costs.
Work with Supply Chain to manage inventory.Product Development Transfer
Provide technical support for new product introductions, including support for preparation of a run plan, preliminary operating procedures, trial run evaluation, and follow-up reporting.
Identify and evaluate new technical developments relating to the processes.
Coordinate and leverage technical and development resources from Salindres, Houston and Rueil. Capital Project Oversight
Identify, propose and implement investment projects on the site with the aim of improving product quality and productivity.
Identification of bottlenecks and recurring breakdowns in the production chain to define projects (capital or small investment.)
Identification of the causes of non-compliant product production and establishment of a project if necessary.
Request for quotes from subcontracting companies (mechanical, electrical, engineering) projects identified for presentation/validation with Axens. Monitoring (deadlines, cost and good implementation) and coordination of approved investment projects between: the needs of Axens, the engineering company, the planning of stops, the standards in force for the site, and the availability of subcontractors for the desired date.
Management of demolition Projects
Under site management's request: completion and follow-up of the demolition works by the subcontractors, updated Axen's equipment lists on the site.
Balance Sheet/Communication
Update production balance sheets accordingly.
Update productivity performance indicators (KPI, B.E- and tonnage per day by gel type) and communication with Axens.
Help develop investment plans according to Axens strategic plans.
Provide oversight to capital projects, including cost and schedule monitoring, and objective fulfillment.
Maintenance Oversight
Identify, propose and implement maintenance initiative on the site with the aim of improving on stream factor and overall plant reliability
Ensure proper coordination between Axens SC and site maintenance for outages
Support Management of change process
Help review alternative part proposal
Lean Manufacturing
Identify opportunities to improve operation through Lean projects
Manage the execution of projects
Education
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Technical Field or appropriate technical training and experience.
Work Experience
Minimum of 15 years of Manufacturing experience in a Technical and with Management role; ideally experience working in the Axens production facility in France.
Must identify risk to the project schedule and budget and proactively work to mitigate them as they arise.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to provide and demonstrate professionalism and sound technical expertise.
Proactive with the ability to resolve problems and complex situations.
