Job purpose
Member of the Finance team that will ensure accurate processing and recording of company's accounts payable. The Accounts Payable Clerk will ensure that all accounts are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
Duties and responsibilities
Responsible daily for accurately processing large volume of supplier invoices matching to purchase orders, employee expense reports and the preparation of manual checks.
Responsible weekly for processing timely vendor payments, filing of invoices and updating vendor profiles.
Responsible monthly for reconciling vendor statements and some account reconciliation.
Analyze invoices to ascertain taxability of tangible personal property based on state laws and job exemptions.
Communicates effectively and timely with vendors, managers, field personnel and other accounting staff.
Works with and supports other AP staff member while focusing on process improvements, gaining efficiencies and achieving a higher quality of work throughout the payable accounting cycle.
Must possess attention to detail, ability to balance workload and have strong time management skills.
Must have a basic knowledge of 1099s, meals/entertainment and sales/use tax guidelines.
Must possess accurate typing skills.
Ability to work overtime occasionally.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
Minimum 3 years of recent AP experience
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
Working knowledge of Spectrum, Heavy Job, and 10-key
Strong work ethic and team player
High degree of professionalism
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Ability to communicate with various levels of management
Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Organization, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
Other Functions
Assist Accounting Manager with year-end duties including W-2's and salary increases
Provide support during audits
Assists in special projects or requests
