DESCRIPTION: Performs routine, extensive preventative maintenance, repair procedures on; Borough building, Borough properties; Borough equipment and vehicles; heating and plumbing needs in the 10 village Municipal Government facilities.
DUTIES: Assists in various maintenance and shop functions and tasks.
Performs variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades, including painting, vehicle maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, and other recognized crafts for maintaining and repairing the building or properties.
Must be willing to do extensive travel to all Borough communities.
Must be willing to be on-call as needed.
Possesses the ability to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.
Work involves frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include climbing ladders and staircases.
Work involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching; bending at the waist.
Indoor/ out-door work environment with exposure to weather extremes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, mechanic or relevant field.
Minimum 2 years light duty maintenance.
Minimum 2 years Heating and Plumbing experience or certification.
Proven experience as maintenance technician.
Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, mechanics and other systems.
Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.
Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices.
Good physical condition and strength, with a willingness to work overtime hours.
Must possess a valid Alaska driver's license
