WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES)…
The Accounting Manager leads the agency’s revenue management and grant compliance while ensuring accurate financial operations aligned with behavioral health funding regulations. This role is responsible for maintaining a high level of financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of the revenue cycle, including oversight of billing, collections, and payer reimbursement processes.
Monitor payer mix and reimbursement rates; develop strategies for revenue optimization.
Monitor cash of all accounts in a daily banking spreadsheet provided to management.
Analyze accounts receivable and work closely with billing and revenue cycle teams.
Grant accounting ensuring compliance with federal, state, and private grant requirements.
Prepare and submit grant financial reports and collaborate with funders and auditors.
Monthly analysis of grant spending for over/under spending.
Prepare state and federal grant budgets
Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and ensure accurate month-end and year-end closes.
Review staff accountant and senior accountant’s general ledger reconciliations
Review financial statements and provide variance and trend analysis to executive leadership.
Support the budget preparation process and financial forecasting
Conduct financial analysis and variance reporting for management review.
Evaluate and improve internal financial controls and systems.
Coordinate annual audits, including preparation of schedules and financial disclosures.
Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff; provide professional development and performance feedback.
Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment between financial, operational, and programmatic goals.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU…
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including grants and healthcare revenue.
Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required.
Strong knowledge of grant compliance, 2 CFR Part 200, and GAAP standards.
Demonstrated experience with Blackbaud, NXT, Excel, electronic health record systems and healthcare billing platforms.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to non-financial audiences.
