Role: Manager, Content Accounting
Reports To: Sr. Director, Accounting
Location: Los Angeles
The Manager of Accounting will report to the Senior Director of Accounting and will play a crucial role on the Content Accounting team that is responsible for our produced and acquired IP. The Manager of Accounting will be tasked with driving improvements to the financial close and reporting process and collaborating cross-functionally with FP&A and production finance. This role will have one direct report and will be responsible for developing and mentoring the accounting team.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Content Accounting team’s month-end & quarter-end close activities for our Television and Film businesses. Close activities include preparation and review of journal entries for content asset, tax incentives, accruals, amortization, and other adjustments in compliance with US GAAP.
Review results and prepare journal entries for the consolidation of our strategic investments, including analysis of statutory to US GAAP and IFRS adjustments
Prepare and review schedules, account reconciliations, and documentation to support our Korean SOX compliance
Analyze Television and Film title Ultimates and assigned trial balance accounts and explain key drivers for variances.
Support the quarterly review and annual financial statement audit, including liaising with external auditors, managing the preparation and review of schedules and financial statement footnotes
Proactively drive efficient accounting processes through thoughtful re-design and automation to simplify, standardize and reduce the time to close while maintaining accuracy and integrity and ensuring a balanced workload across the team
Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Finance, FP&A and legal to ensure completeness and accuracy of information used during the month-end close and support accurate budgeting and forecasting
Lead various ad-hoc projects as required, including design of end-to-end processes, and working with IT to test and implement systems
Supervise and mentor accounting staff; ensure clear roles, responsibilities, and training
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required
Certified Public Accountant license, required
Big 4 or public accounting experience, preferred
Minimum 4-6 years’ experience in entertainment or related field in an accounting role
Film accounting (ASC 926) and revenue recognition (ASC 606) experience, required
Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of finance, operations, and senior management, excellent written and verbal skills
Strong time-management skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Thrives in a high-growth, dynamic work environment
Problem-solver who can roll up their sleeves to deliver results while implementing solutions to support the company’s future growth
Strong computer skills including Excel, SAP/AOE, or other similar financial systems
