Global Procurement Engineer

Allied Mineral Products Holding, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking a Global Procurement Engineer, who oversee the purchase of equipment in support of global capital projects and maintenance, repair, and operations. The focus area for the Global Procurement Engineer is to support the organization in the development and implementation of global capital equipment and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) procurement strategy, defining the procurement process and specifications and implementing tools to support the team in executing asset management procurement functions. Will work closely with other engineering disciplines in development of new systems or refinement of existing equipment and processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve, streamline, and automate current equipment, materials, supplies, and services procurement processes.

Collaborate with engineering project teams to develop equipment specifications to ensure delivery of equipment capable of meeting manufacturing requirements. Participate in design and project reviews and ensure supplier expertise and innovation are considered in component design and specifications.

Support plant engineering projects, from beginning to end, including defining requirements and equipment specifications, developing cost estimates and timelines, sending inquiry requisitions, evaluating technical bids, managing purchase requisitions and change orders, and producing final documentation.

Review and markup vendor data for compliance to the purchase requisition and project requirements, ensuring consistency with primary project documents (performance specifications, equipment list, drawings, piping & instrumentation diagrams, etc.)

Coordinate with engineering design team to ensure that equipment interfaces with process/utility systems, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and structural are effectively implemented; work with design groups to ensure 3D model accurately depicts equipment/package components, develop scope of work (SOW) documents for bid.

Communicate effectively with project team, vendors, and client; inform Project Lead of significant issues and changes impacting manhours, cost, or schedule.

Manage and coordinate technical issues for equipment purchase orders through equipment factory acceptance testing and delivery.

Understand and monitor project milestone dates related to material purchase, issuance of documents, fabrication, inspection / testing, and delivery; help expedite vendors to meet purchase order requirements / project schedule.

Coordinate with customer service team in understanding import/export documentation requirements for equipment shipped to global affiliates. Ensure vendor provides required documentation prior to shipment.

Produce/review mechanical and electrical drawings for layout, assembly, fabrication, and erection of equipment and facilities.

Coordinate outside contractors, as needed, to complete any assigned projects.

Maintain excellent lines of communication with Maintenance, Production, other Allied departments, and our affiliates.

Support Allied’s manufacturing operations around the world. Occasional travel to US or international locations may be required.

Independently maintain technical knowledge and remain current on emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, or other similar technical field, or equivalent work experience required.

At least 5 years of related work experience and prior work experience in a manufacturing environment.

AutoCAD/AutoCAD Mechanical/Inventor experience desired

Familiarity with SAP a plus.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design principles required.

Excellent written and verbal communication, and human relations skills required.

Must be able to work independently.

Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
