Entry-level Firefighter/EMT Borough of Wyomissing 22 Reading Blvd, Wyomissing, PA 19610 The Wyomissing Fire Department is hiring for the following position: Firefighter/EMT The Civil Service Commission of the Borough of Wyomissing, Berks County, PA, will conduct examinations for the position of Firefighter/EMT for the Wyomissing Fire Department.

Borough Hall hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am- 3:00 pm, excluding holidays.
The application period is open from May 15, 2025, through 3:00 pm on June 16, 2025.
The starting salary for probationary Firefighter in 2025 is $72,150.64.
Any applicant claiming Veteran’s Preference is responsible for providing a DD-214 with their application.
Applicants for Firefighter/EMT must be a United States citizen, 18 years old before deadline for submitting a completed application, have a high school diploma or GED, be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a Firefighter/EMT, have a valid Driver’s License and be eligible to legally operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and shall obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License within one (1) year of hire date, and possess the certifications listed noted below: · NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification · Emergency Medical Technician Certification (PA or Reciprocal) · Healthcare Provider CPR and AED Certification · Emergency Vehicle Operators Certification (16 Hours) · PA Department of Health Vehicle Rescue (or equivalent as determined by the Fire Chief) · NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Operations Certification · NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 Candidate Physical Agility Testing (CPAT) certificates dated no more than six (6) months prior to this examination notice will be accepted.
Applicants who submit this certificate and successfully pass the written examination will be exempt from attending the CPAT portion of this testing process.
Applicants successfully pass the written exam and have not completed a CPAT will be invited to attend the CPAT and must successfully pass it to move forward in the testing process.
Complete application packets shall include copies of the required certifications, a completed application, and associated documents.
Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified Applicants will be notified by email of their eligibility after the application closing date.
Applicants who are deemed eligible will receive an official invitation to the written examination and study guide.
Those who are deemed ineligible will be notified of their status.
Eligible applicants must attend and successfully pass the written examination to move forward in this process.
The written examination will be held on Saturday July 19, 2025, at 9:00 AM at the Wyomissing Area Jr./Sr.
High School located at 630 Evans Avenue, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
Doors will open at 8:30 AM, and no one will be permitted to enter after 8:55 am.
For this testing process, applicants must successfully complete a written examination, Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT), oral examination, and a thorough background investigation to be certified on the Civil Service Commission’s Entry-Level Firefighter/EMT eligibility list.
To be hired, the applicant will need to complete an NFPA 1582 Physical, psychological screening and drug and alcohol testing.
Scoring for this testing process is weighted, with the written examination worth 40%, CPAT is pass/fail, and the oral interview is worth 60% of the overall grade.
Veterans’ Preference points will be added to the final weighted score.
A conditional offer of employment will be made during the November 2025 Borough Council Meeting.
