Job Summary: Divine Child Elementary School is seeking a faith-filled, enthusiastic educator to serve as the 7th and 8th Grade Religion Teacher. The ideal candidate will be a practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic doctrine, Scripture, Church history, and moral theology, and a passion for forming young disciples. This teacher will guide students in deepening their relationship with Christ, preparing 8th graders for the Sacrament of Confirmation, and fostering a classroom environment rooted in respect, reverence, and Catholic values. The Religion teacher will collaborate with faculty and the parish community to integrate faith across the curriculum and school life.
Preferred Qualifications:
Elementary or middle school teaching experience.
Religion teaching experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Education or the equivalent.
Current Michigan Teaching certificate (elementary or middle school).
Certified Catechist (or in process).
Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Experience in differentiated instruction practices.
Experience teaching and planning for cross-curricular activities and experiences.
Job Responsibilities:
Teach all sections of 7th and 8th Grade Religion utilizing Archdiocesan standards, providing high quality instruction for students through best practice strategies.
Keep appropriate records of student progress, grades, etc.
Communicates with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
Responsible for one 7th Grade Homeroom and all related Homeroom activities.
Maintain a safe, comfortable and clean classroom environment.
Actively manage classroom behavior and expectations.
Performs all other necessary professional requirements such as maintaining an active teaching license, attending professional development, etc.
Participate in all Religion Department meetings
Collaborate with Junior High teachers on social events, learning opportunities, field trips, etc. Participate in all Junior High Department meetings.
Prepares students for Confirmation, including all prerequisite requirements and attendance at Confirmation.
Other duties as assigned.
