We are seeking an experienced and proactive Controller to manage our financial operations, oversee accounting processes, and provide strategic guidance. This hands-on role requires a skilled professional who is comfortable wearing many hats and contributing both tactically and strategically in a fast-paced environment.

Financial Management:

Oversee and manage the company’s Profit & Loss (P& L) statement, providing detailed financial insights to guide decision-making.

Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, helping ownership plan for both short-term objectives and long-term growth.

Provide financial analysis and reporting to track performance and highlight key trends or areas for improvement.

Accounting Operations:

Manage monthly and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.

Oversee the consolidation of financial statements for the company and its related entities.

Collaborate with the company’s CPA firm for the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other standards.

Job Costing & Inventory Oversight:

Implement and manage job costing practices to measure profitability at the customer, product, and project levels.

Monitor and manage inventory valuation to ensure accurate reporting and efficient operations.

Supervisory Role:

Oversee and mentor the staff accountant(s), ensuring workflow efficiency and adherence to best practices.

Direct payroll oversight, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, and timely payroll processing.

Strategic Partnership with Ownership:

Act as a trusted advisor, providing ownership with actionable financial recommendations on profit maximization, growth strategies, and cost management.

Support operational leadership in evaluating and pursuing new revenue streams or strategic initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance and Internal Controls:

Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee tax preparation in collaboration with external consultants.

Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company resources and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.

Qualifications

Education

bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.

Proven experience in consolidations, oversight of multiple entities, job costing, and the manufacturing or distribution industry is strongly preferred.• Proven experience in accounting, with expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and auditing.

• Strong knowledge of budget development and financial forecasting processes.

• Proficiency with accounting systems, including E2500, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage month-end and year-end close processes effectively.

• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide and support a finance team.

• In-depth understanding of accounting principles and compliance requirements.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
