Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Associate General Counsel to join our team in Austin, Texas. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support, including conducting in-depth legal research, reviewing contracts, and managing litigation matters. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in law and demonstrate exceptional analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough legal research to analyze state and federal statutory and regulatory requirements.

• Prepare detailed legal memoranda and collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with business needs.

• Review, negotiate, and finalize contracts while ensuring adherence to cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory standards.

• Provide legal support to various departments, including claims management and operational assistance.

• Assist with contestable claims matters and corporate governance tasks, such as preparing board meeting materials and resolutions.

• Supervise legal services staff and provide guidance on complex legal issues.

• Manage litigation processes, including coordinating with outside counsel under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel.

• Support the preparation and filing of corporate documents and maintain compliance with applicable laws.

• Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned by the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel.• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• A minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience, with preference for expertise in insurance regulatory matters.

• Proficiency in legal research and contract review, with a focus on cybersecurity and data privacy compliance.

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to draft complex documents and present to diverse audiences.

• Familiarity with case management software and legal tools such as Adobe Acrobat and ACRIS.

• Demonstrated ability to handle civil litigation, appellate matters, and claims administration.

• Capable of applying mathematical concepts to legal scenarios, such as calculating interest and commissions.

• Excellent reasoning skills to address complex problems and develop effective solutions.
