Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Estimator & Project Manager with strong technical expertise in building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. This position blends cost analysis with project oversight, requiring both sharp analytical thinking and hands-on construction knowledge.
Estimating Project Costs: Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate cost projections for mechanical components, including HVAC systems, plumbing networks, and fire suppression systems. This includes cost estimates for commercial equipment replacements.
Assessing Labor and Materials: Determine the labor hours and materials necessary for mechanical system installation, factoring in project scope, specifications, and applicable building regulations.
Vendor and Subcontractor Engagement: Partner with suppliers and subcontractors to gather competitive pricing for equipment, materials, and outsourced services related to mechanical construction.
Financial Evaluation: Perform detailed evaluations of overall project costs to uncover opportunities for value engineering, identify cost-saving strategies, and assess potential risks.
Proposal Development: Create thorough and competitive proposals for mechanical projects, ensuring estimates meet the specifications and deadlines outlined by the client or general contractor.
Pre-Construction Support: Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members during the planning phase. Attend meetings, answer technical inquiries, and provide expertise to ensure project alignment.
Recordkeeping and Reporting: Keep detailed records of cost estimates, submitted bids, and relevant documentation. Prepare reports and billing statements as needed for internal tracking and customer presentations.
Process Optimization: Keep abreast of innovations, trends, and best practices in mechanical construction and estimating. Recommend enhancements to tools and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Experience in HVAC, Plumbing, or Construction Management
Prior estimating experience in mechanical construction
Proficiency with tools like Bluebeam, FastPIPE, or similar software
Strong math, analytical, and technical drawing interpretation skills
Excellent communication and coordination abilities
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Project management experience preferred; CAD familiarity is a plus
Working Conditions:
Primarily office-based with occasional site visits. Standard hours with potential overtime during peak periods.
