JOB SUMMARY
The Off-Road Equipment Maintenance Supervisor manages the daily scheduling and workload for the staff, monitors repair and maintenance processes to ensure compliance with established procedures and tracks costs and expenses against the budget. This position also identifies training and development opportunities for department personnel.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
Manage daily staffing and workload to meet department performance goals.
Monitor repair and maintenance processes to ensure compliance with established procedures.
Hold personnel accountable for completing work within the established time and quality expectations.
Evaluate maintenance repairs and cost.
Supervise mechanics and give timely, specific feedback on performance and opportunities for improvement.
Identify training and development opportunities for shop personnel.
Conduct quality inspections to ensure proper repairs are made and units are road worthy.
Immediately report any safety violations and correcting unsafe acts or conditions.
Assist with mentoring staff, taking disciplinary actions, writing and delivering performance evaluations.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in Business, Logistics or related fields and one year of experience (the degree can be substituted with experience on a year-for-year basis, up to four years); or an industrial technician certification and one year of experience in heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance
Experience with hydraulic, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, engine, transmissions, HVAC and special body applications
At least three years of supervisory experience in a maintenance organization or completion of technical school and five years of experience
Demonstrate solid working knowledge of service shop procedures
Demonstrate creativity and adaptability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite – e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple facilities or work sites
Ability to work overnight, weekend or holiday shifts, as needed
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics or related field and at least one year of related truck and trailer maintenance supervisor experience
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL)
At least one year of commercial driving experience
Safe driving for the last five years
Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications for air brake systems, preventive maintenance inspection and air conditioning
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Truck certification
REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Class C driver’s license
Safe driving for the last three years
