Job Description

Job Title: Press Brake Operator

Reporting relationship: Plant Manager

Job Summary:

The press brake operator is responsible for the set up and operation of CNC Press Brake operations. This position tends to fabricating machines that shape and bend metal plates, sheets, and other parts as ordered by the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC programmable press brakes and equipment

Operate press machines according to specifications

Plan sequence of operations to achieve desired result

Communicating with the Production team on job

Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping

Make machine adjustments and perform minor maintenance

Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Qualification Requirements:

Ability to read and interpret router, blueprints, drawings, and machine sketches

Knowledge of the Industry specification and equipment

Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and job routers

Must be able to read gauges, micrometers and apply principals for geometric tolerances

Able to program brake press, restore saved programs, set up and operate brake press

Read and interpret job specs to determine machine adjustments and material requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

Required - High School Graduate or GED

Preferred - Vocational School/Machine Trade School

Job Skills and Abilities:

Job Knowledge

Basic math ability, geometric depth perception and understanding of mechanical principles used in sheet metal fabrication.

Able to read and interpret blueprints.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to use measuring instruments to produce parts within decimal and angular degrees. Ability to do conversion to and from metric.

Physical Demands and Physical Environment:

Frequently stand up to two to three hours continuously

Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb stairs, bend, and stoop.

Reach and grasp cut parts repeatedly throughout the day.

Regularly required to lift 45 lbs minimum and up to 60 by self and up to 120 lbs. In a “buddy” lift.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions:

Fabrication shop conditions including exposure to dirt, dust, and noise.

Extremes of heat or cold.

Work around machinery with moving parts and mobile vehicles.

Employees work closely with others.
