About the Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Billing and Coding Specialist to support our revenue cycle operations. This is an on-site position. In this role, you’ll be responsible for accurately coding healthcare claims for commercial insurers and government programs like Medicare and Medicaid. You’ll also assist with billing inquiries, payment collection, and ensuring claims are submitted and processed efficiently and compliantly.

What You’ll Do

Review claims data to ensure CPT and ICD codes meet payer and compliance requirements

Investigate rejected claims, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on unpaid claims

Communicate with providers to clarify or obtain missing or incorrect coding information

Serve as a resource to providers and staff for coding inquiries and provide training as needed

Conduct annual coding audits to ensure accuracy of CPT and ICD coding

Collect, post, and manage patient account payments

Respond to billing and statement inquiries from patients

Set up and manage patient payment plans with care and compassion

What We’re Looking For

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Understanding of healthcare reimbursement practices

Coding certification, CPC or CCS-P, preferred

Extensive knowledge of ICD9-CM, ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles and guidelines

A strong knowledge base in complete and accurate clinical documentation

A strong knowledge of Federal and State health care regulations, standards, policies, and requirements of documentation, coding and billing

Demonstrated knowledge of all insurance companies, HMO’s, PPO’s, Medicare, third-party payers.

Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and resolve claim issues efficiently
