Engineering Manager will be responsible for the supervision of the De-Ice and Engine Preheat engineering team and overseeing the implementation and certification of propeller ice protection and engine preheat systems.
Engineering Manager Responsibilities:
De-Ice engineering is responsible for the integration and certification of propeller de-ice systems onto various aircraft, which includes using analytical ice accretion software, calculating electrical loads, creating installation schematics, and reviewing aerodynamic conditions.
When necessary, structural design and analysis of de-ice components may also be performed.
Engine Preheat engineering is responsible for the recently acquired product lines, which involves integration and certification of heated products onto various craft.
De-Ice and Engine Preheat engineering also works closely with the manufacturing and product support groups when necessary to troubleshoot issues.
Able to efficiently and professionally communicate and coordinate projects within the company and with external customers.
Analyze, design, test, and certify propeller electro-thermal/fluid ice protection systems and engine preheat systems.
Perform structural design and analysis.
Perform control system analyses and simulation of propeller operating characteristics.
Communicate with customers regarding design, configuration, and installation issues.
Manage project assignments.
Participate in design reviews and review of technical data and reports.
Communicate with internal & external customers regarding design, configuration, and installation issues.
Engineering Manager Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of Aircraft or Propeller De-Ice Experience is required.
Managing experience preferred.
Experience with the FAA certification is a plus.
Airplane pilot experience or desire to be a pilot is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of electro-thermal and fluid ice protection systems.
Knowledge of FAA icing certification regulations.
Proficient in 3D computer modeling (Solidworks).
Demonstrated interest/ ability in aviation.
Proficient Computer Skills (MS Office minimum).
