TITLE: Maintenance Mechanic
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
BASED AT: Harken, Inc., Pewaukee, WI
STATUS: Full Time, 1st shift, Non-Exempt
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
Dismantle and reassemble parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes or hoists.
Read work orders and specification to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
Clean machines and machine parts using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums or other equipment.
Familiar with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor, maintain, service and record machine coolant tanks and bulk tanks as needed.
Maintain way oil levels on various machines.
Process shop waste - cardboard, garbage, wood, etc.
Monitor, separate, record and ship all recyclables.
Monitor waste oil and waste water for removal by outside service.
Maintain maintenance cleaning equipment.
Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
Clean machines and machine parts as needed using solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) required.
3+ years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in a team oriented environment.
Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
Must be able to work productively with minimum supervision.
Strong problem solving skills.
Ability to use standard office equipment.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher.
Ability to add, sub-tract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, feel or handle objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must be able to walk or stand on concrete for up to 4 hours at a time.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to focus.
